The most powerful lesson I can learn — before I go any further, before I take another step — the most powerful thing I can think at this moment is “It’s OK not to be OK”. The kindest, most compassionate thing I can do is to look at myself, scars, fat, insecurities and all, and forgive her, forgive me, all of the transgressions I’ve committed against myself over the last 44 years. I can begin by learning to fail gracefully and graciously, while acknowledging that the fall hurt like hell.
