Speaking as a Barren County native / Nashville transplant, the music education programs in the Barren County and Glasgow school systems produce great young musicians and a bounty of well-educated, life-long music aficionados. Thank you, Nashville Symphony.Despite the sweltering heat that delayed our performance by thirty minutes, we managed to squeeze in our concert in front of Barren County Courthouse in Glasgow, KY. They were terrific hosts - they sprayed thousands of gallons of water on the pavement throughout the day to keep it cool, they got mobile air conditioners for us, and they had a huge stash of cold drinks set up behind us. Best moment of the night was when we played “My Old Kentucky Home” (marked Tempo di Kentucky in our parts - ha!) and the whole crowd stood up, almost reverently. Made the long trip worth it!
