Filming begins next month, and the 77-year-old American will play Martha Levinson, mother of Cora Crawley, the Countess of Grantham, and as such will go head-to-head with Dame Maggie Smith, the gruesome Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham, in what is already being touted as the greatest female-to-female TV stand-off since Alexis Colby and Krystal Carrington fought over Blake in Dynasty.
